أثار قبول الفنانة منى زكي تقديم شخصية أم كلثوم في فيلم «الست» اهتمام الجمهور والنقاد منذ الإعلان عنه، خصوصاً مع اعتبارها أنه أصعب الأدوار ليس في مسيرتها فحسب بل وفي تاريخ السينما العربية أيضاً.
وخلال مؤتمر مهرجان مراكش الدولي، أوضحت منى زكي أن السيناريو المبتكر للكاتب أحمد مراد كان العامل الرئيسي وراء موافقتها على الدور، إذ أتاح لها كشف جوانب إنسانية لم تُعرف من قبل عن «كوكب الشرق». وأضافت أن وجود المخرج الكبير مروان حامد منحها الاطمئنان والثقة لخوض هذه التجربة الاستثنائية، مؤكدة: «لولا المخرج مروان حامد لم يكن لدي الشجاعة لتقديم هذا العمل».
وتابعت زكي أن التحضيرات للدور استمرت أكثر من عام كامل، تضمنت تدريبات صوتية وجسدية دقيقة، بالإضافة إلى دراسة الموسيقى وحركات الجسد لتقديم شخصية محبوكة ودقيقة، تعكس أيقونة الطرب بكل تفاصيلها. وأكدت أن الدور كان تحديًا كبيرًا لأنها تجسد شخصية يحترمها الجمهور من المحيط إلى الخليج، وأن الحذر والدقة لازمها منذ اللحظة الأولى وحتى انتهاء التصوير.
شهد العرض الأول للفيلم تصفيقًا حارًا استمر لدقائق، فيما وصف الناقد المغربي عبد الكريم واكريم العمل بأنه من أبرز الإنجازات السينمائية في مجال السير الذاتية عربياً ومصرياً، معتبراً أن كل التكهنات السابقة حول الفيلم كانت «هراء متسرعًا».
فيلم «الست» من تأليف أحمد مراد وبطولة منى زكي، ويشارك فيه نخبة من النجوم منهم كريم عبد العزيز، ونيللي كريم، وأمينة خليل، وعمرو يوسف وأحمد حلمي، بينما يؤدي عمرو سعد دور الرئيس الراحل جمال عبد الناصر، ومحمد فراج دور الشاعر أحمد رامي. ومن المقرر أن يبدأ عرض الفيلم في دور السينما في مصر والعالم العربي في العاشر من ديسمبر.
The acceptance of actress Mona Zaki to portray the character of Umm Kulthum in the film “The Lady” has sparked interest among the audience and critics since its announcement, especially considering it one of the most challenging roles not only in her career but also in the history of Arab cinema.
During the Marrakech International Film Festival conference, Mona Zaki explained that the innovative script by writer Ahmed Mourad was the main factor behind her agreeing to the role, as it allowed her to reveal human aspects of the “Star of the East” that were previously unknown. She added that the presence of the great director Marwan Hamed gave her reassurance and confidence to embark on this exceptional experience, affirming: “If it weren’t for director Marwan Hamed, I wouldn’t have had the courage to take on this work.”
Zaki continued that the preparations for the role lasted more than a full year, including precise vocal and physical training, in addition to studying music and body movements to present a well-crafted and accurate character that reflects the icon of Arabic music in all its details. She confirmed that the role was a significant challenge because she embodies a character respected by the audience from the Atlantic to the Gulf, and that caution and precision accompanied her from the very first moment until the end of filming.
The film’s premiere witnessed a warm applause that lasted for minutes, while Moroccan critic Abdel Karim Wakrim described the work as one of the most prominent cinematic achievements in the field of biographies, both Arab and Egyptian, considering that all previous speculations about the film were “hasty nonsense.”
The film “The Lady” is written by Ahmed Mourad and stars Mona Zaki, featuring a selection of stars including Karim Abdel Aziz, Nelly Karim, Amina Khalil, Amr Youssef, and Ahmed Helmy, while Amr Saad plays the role of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and Mohamed Farag plays the poet Ahmed Rami. The film is set to be released in cinemas in Egypt and the Arab world on December 10.
