المنظر المهيب حين يُعانق بصرك الكعبة المشرفة، تسورها المآذن الشامخة والغيمات سقفها توشح سماءها الصافية بالبياض الذي يداهمك على مد البصر أينما وليت وجهك؛ مئات الآلاف من الزوار والمعتمرين والمصلين يجتمعون من أقطار العالم بين يدي الله يقفون في خشوع ومهابة لا تميز بين غنيّهم وفقيرهم وبين هذا وذاك، تجمعهم كلمة التوحيد والحاجة لله، وأدعية يتضرعون بها إليه؛ كلّ أسرّها في قلبه وفاض بها أمام بيته المكرّم، حملها كخبيئة وعبر بها المسافات والبحار والجبال والأودية ليبثها هناك في الديار المقدسة وحول بيت الله في طوافه وصلاته وسعيه.
يتذكر ضائقة هاجر وابنها ثم زمزم التي تفجرت تحت قدميها تغيث الأم المكلومة وتروي ظمأ وليدها، ثم للحاج في ذلك عبرة ويقين بفرج الله وتغيير أوضاعه وأن السماء تفتح أبوابها لتجيبه وأنه في بيت الله الذي يستجيب ربهالداع إذا دعاه.
في غرّة رمضان قصدت مكة المكرمة لتأدية العمرة، سبقني شوقي للمكان المقدس وعطشي لعناق روحاني مع كل ركن فيه، الإمكانات المسخرة لخدمة الكعبة وزوارها هائلة، رجال الأمن الذين يبذلون طاقاتهم لخدمة المعتمرين، نظافة المكان وإفطار المصلين وتسابق المتطوعين لخدمة القادمين من كل فج وصوب، المرورالذي يفوج آلاف المركبات القادمة إلى مكة، ثم مسيرة المعتمرين من وإلى فنادقهم في أمن وتنظيم ومن يحتاج منهم خدمة طبية أو إسعاف يصله بالسرعة الممكنة، ثم يتحمل رجال الأمن أكثر مما يمكن وصفه من تجاوزات المعتمرين وممارساتهم الخاطئة واعتداء البعض بالقول أو الفعل عليهم.
خدمة زوار بيت الله يعتبره السعوديون شرف عظيم يتسابقون إليه وهو عادة قديمة وإرث توارثته الأجيال منذ القدم، ولا أنسى من دعائي ذلك الشاب الذي تلمس حاجتي للمساعدة فهرول إليّ يستفسر إن كنت بحاجة لشيء وأقبل بالتمر وماء زمزم وكلماته اللطيفة وترحيبه ينهال كالهتون.
زمزم المتوفرة في باحات الحرم وساحاته بطريقة صحية ونظيفة يشرف على نظافة المكان عمالة مدربة، تتأكد من جفافه حتى لا يصاب زوار بيت الله بالسقوط أو الإصابات ثم تسهيل شرب زمزم ونظافة الماء والأكواب والتخلص من المستعمل لاتقاء العدوى وهذا تطرق سريع لخدمة بسيطة من عشرات الخدمات الأخرى التي تسهل زيارة الحرم لزواره وتحافظ على سلامتهم وأمنهم وتسهيل زيارتهم.
وفي الظروف الصعبة التي عاشتها المنطقة بقيت مكة كما باقي المدن السعودية الأخرى في حفظ الله ورعاية حكومة خادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده، وقد حظي الزائرون والمعتمرون بكل وسائل الراحة والعناية الأمنية والطبية وكرم أهل المنطقة الذين كرّسوا أنفسهم لخدمتهم كما رجال الأمن، كما لم يستثن الحجاج الإيرانيون الذين ظلوا في عناية الدولة ورعايتها حتى مغادرتهم إلى بلدهم رغم ما اقترفته بلدهم بحق الآمنين والمنشآت الحيوية والسكانية في دول الخليج.
مكة المكرمة قبلة القلب ومهوى الأفئدة، البلد الحرام الذي ما إن وصلت إليه حتى غشاني الخشوع والرحمة وفضت دعاء وحنينا وبكاء وشكرا وامتنانا كذلك.
دعائي يعانق السماء التي تظللها، ويطوف مع الأنفاس التي تطوف حولها، يعلو كصوت المآذن وكلمة الحق بأن يحفظ الله المملكة وعالمنا من الحروب والصراعات وما يترصد بنا. وحكاية المكان بدأت ولن تنتهي إلا أن يرث الله الأرض وما عليها.
The majestic view when your eyes embrace the Holy Kaaba, surrounded by towering minarets and clouds that adorn its clear sky with a whiteness that overwhelms you as far as the eye can see, wherever you turn your face; hundreds of thousands of visitors, pilgrims, and worshippers gather from all corners of the world before God, standing in humility and reverence that does not distinguish between rich and poor, between this one and that one. They are united by the word of monotheism and their need for God, and by prayers they beseech Him with; each one carrying their secrets in their hearts and pouring them out before His honored House, having brought them as a hidden treasure across distances, seas, mountains, and valleys to share them there in the sacred lands around God’s House in their circumambulation, prayers, and running.
He remembers the plight of Hagar and her son, then the Zamzam that burst forth beneath her feet, providing relief to the grieving mother and quenching her newborn’s thirst. Then for the pilgrim, there is a lesson and certainty in God’s relief and the change of his circumstances, and that the heavens open their doors to answer him, and that he is in God’s House, where his Lord responds to the supplicant when he calls upon Him.
At the beginning of Ramadan, I headed to the Holy City of Mecca to perform Umrah. My longing for the sacred place and my thirst for a spiritual embrace with every corner of it preceded me. The resources dedicated to serving the Kaaba and its visitors are immense, with security personnel exerting their efforts to serve the pilgrims, the cleanliness of the place, the breaking of fast for the worshippers, and the eagerness of volunteers to assist those coming from every direction. The traffic that brings thousands of vehicles to Mecca, then the procession of pilgrims to and from their hotels in safety and organization, and those in need of medical assistance or emergency services are reached as quickly as possible. Moreover, the security personnel endure more than can be described in terms of the transgressions of the pilgrims and their incorrect practices, as well as some verbally or physically assaulting them.
Serving the visitors of God’s House is considered a great honor by Saudis, a race they compete for, and it is an ancient tradition and heritage passed down through generations. I will never forget in my prayers that young man who sensed my need for help, hurried to me, inquiring if I needed anything, and offered dates and Zamzam water, with his kind words and warm welcome pouring forth like a flood.
Zamzam, available in the courtyards of the sanctuary in a healthy and clean manner, is overseen by trained workers who ensure its cleanliness, making sure it is dry so that the visitors of God’s House do not fall or suffer injuries. They also facilitate drinking Zamzam and maintaining the cleanliness of the water and cups, disposing of used ones to prevent infection. This is a brief mention of a simple service among the dozens of other services that facilitate the visit to the sanctuary for its visitors and maintain their safety and security, easing their visits.
In the difficult circumstances that the region has experienced, Mecca, like other Saudi cities, remained under the protection of God and the care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince. Visitors and pilgrims enjoyed all means of comfort, security, and medical care, along with the generosity of the local people who dedicated themselves to serving them, just like the security personnel. Iranian pilgrims were not excluded, as they remained under the state’s care until their departure to their country, despite what their country has done against the safe and vital installations in the Gulf states.
Mecca, the heart’s qibla and the destination of souls, the sacred land that, as soon as I reached it, enveloped me with humility and mercy, and I poured out prayers, longing, tears, gratitude, and appreciation as well.
My prayers embrace the sky that shades it, and circle with the breaths that revolve around it, rising like the sound of the minarets and the word of truth, asking God to protect the Kingdom and our world from wars, conflicts, and what threatens us. The story of this place has begun and will not end until God inherits the earth and all that is upon it.
