أنقذت فرق الإطفاء في مدينة فينيكس الأمريكية رسام الرسوم المتحركة الشهير والحائز على جائزة الأوسكار غلين كين، بعد تعرضه لوعكة صحية خلال رحلة تنزه في منطقة وادي بارادايس بولاية أريزونا.
قمة جبل مامي
وتلقت إدارة الإطفاء بلاغًا بتعرض أحد المتنزهين لحالة طبية طارئة على قمة جبل «مامي»، ليتبين لاحقًا أن المصاب هو كين، البالغ من العمر 72 عامًا. وبحسب السلطات، شعر كين بدوار أثناء التنزه مع أحفاده، ولم يعد قادرًا على استكمال النزول من الجبل بمفرده؛ ما دفعه إلى طلب المساعدة، وبناء عليه توجهت طائرة مروحية الى الموقع ونقلت كين الى منطقة آمنة.
بحاجة للمساعدة
وقال كين: «أدركت عند وصولي إلى ممر ضيّق أن مواصلة السير أصبحت خطرة، كنت أعلم أنني بحاجة ماسة للمساعدة»، مشيداً بجهود رجال الإطفاء، مؤكدًا أنهم خاطروا بحياتهم لإنقاذه في منطقة شديدة الوعورة.
وأضاف كان الأمر أشبه بالسير على حافة شفرة حادة، وأنا ممتن لوجود هذا الفريق”. كما استغلت إدارة الإطفاء الحادث لتوجيه تحذير للمتنزهين من مخاطر ممارسة رياضة المشي في الأجواء شديدة الحرارة، داعية إلى تقييم الظروف الجوية والحالة الصحية قبل الانطلاق في المسارات الجبلية.
غلين كين
ويُعد غلين كين أحد أبرز رسامي الرسوم المتحركة في استوديوهات ديزني، وساهم في إنتاج أفلام شهيرة مثل «حورية البحر الصغيرة» و«الجميلة والوحش» و«علاء الدين» و«طرزان». وبعد مغادرته ديزني في 2012، واصل مسيرته الفنية، ونال جائزة الأوسكار في 2018 عن فيلم الرسوم المتحركة القصير Dear Basketball، كما أخرج فيلم Over the Moon الذي رُشح لاحقًا للجائزة نفسها.
Firefighters in Phoenix, Arizona, rescued the famous Oscar-winning animator Glen Keane after he suffered a health emergency during a hiking trip in the Paradise Valley area.
Summit of Mummy Mountain
The fire department received a report of a hiker experiencing a medical emergency at the summit of “Mummy Mountain,” later revealing that the injured person was Keane, who is 72 years old. According to authorities, Keane felt dizzy while hiking with his grandchildren and was unable to continue descending the mountain on his own, prompting him to call for help. Consequently, a helicopter was dispatched to the site and transported Keane to a safe area.
In Need of Help
Keane stated, “I realized when I reached a narrow path that continuing was becoming dangerous; I knew I was in urgent need of help,” praising the efforts of the firefighters and confirming that they risked their lives to save him in a very rugged area.
He added, “It was like walking on the edge of a sharp blade, and I am grateful for this team.” The fire department also took the incident as an opportunity to warn hikers about the dangers of hiking in extremely hot weather, urging them to assess weather conditions and their health status before embarking on mountain trails.

Glen Keane is considered one of the most prominent animators at Disney Studios, contributing to the production of famous films such as “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” and “Tarzan.” After leaving Disney in 2012, he continued his artistic career and won an Oscar in 2018 for the animated short film Dear Basketball, and he directed the film Over the Moon, which was later nominated for the same award.
